A lesson Prof Sunita K Mani learned unforgettably over a decade as a counselor:
Isolation is never out of work in India’s mental health care system.

Burdened by a mental health caseload humanly impossible to tackle, India’s few thousand mental health professionals have their overwork cut out for them. Which leaves most of the 1.3 billion psychologically uncared for and with only isolation to turn to.
Not on Sunita’s watch, though. Her purpose, in her own words, is “to make the world a less lonely place” .

The beginning of Sunita’s efforts towards improving mental health in India, Habify is the parent organisation, begun in 2018, that houses the EFAA and Dear Enabler.

Founding The Emotional First Aid Academy as a response to the deficit in mental health support, Sunita intends her institute to create a frontline of first responders to handle the emotional bruises and cuts of daily life.
